As you probably well know by now from reading the blog, I’m very into self-improvement and personal development. You probably also know how I am passionate about meditation and the benefits that it can offer.

I have been meditating seriously for a couple of years now, but I was certainly on the path way before then.

When I say seriously I mean at least once a day for 20 minutes or numerous times a day for many more minutes.

Meditation has benefited and enhanced my life in many areas. From controlling stress and stabilizing and lifting my mood… to helping me to become a better person and improving my concentration… and that is what I can confirm.

However, I wanted to learn more about the benefits of meditation and learn about what science has proved meditation can help with.

My reasons for this are many. But one reason that interested me greatly was how and if meditation can make one a better trader?

Trading Psychology, Meditation and Neuroplasticity

A few months ago I started reading and researching as much as I could find out about the science of meditation.

This research led me to discovering and learning what happens to the mind after regular meditation and onto a new area of study that is called neuroplasticity.

My initial theory was that regular meditation should be able to help traders become calmer and more rational by altering the emotion centre off the brain… the hippocampus.

But after my in-depth research started, I found out that the brain is actually now being proven to create new neurons and literally change the way it is formed.

Studies have confirmed that learning something new changes the physiology of the brain.

The mind blowing thing is that even if you imagined yourself learning something new, the results you’d achieve in altering your brain’s physiology are practically identical to that if you really doing the task for real.

So my initially theory that seemed already pretty sound now had new and even greater possibilities than ever.

If you started to practice meditation on a regular basis, but also set out time to practice deep visualization of yourself trading and winning at trading, then surely this could be the closest thing to actually learning to trade profitably before you even risk a single penny?

If this is the case, then trading for a living may have just got a whole lot easier.

Neuroplasticity

The first time I heard of neuroplasticity was from a Ruby Wax interview. I then bought her book about how neuroplasticity can help with depression by practicing meditation.

Since then, I haven’t stopped trying to find out more about the proven scientific benefits that meditation can offer along with neuroplasticity.

Whilst my theory on trading, neuroplasticity and meditation may take some time to prove… you may like to watch and read some of the video’s and books that I have been learning from.

I don’t mean to sound way out or bonkers to you, but I really do believe that you can always get the life you want and that it’s never too late to be the person that you were meant to be.
